What do you think of this?

"The best-informed man is not necessarily the wisest. Indeed there is a danger that precisely in the multiplicity of his knowledge he will lose sight of what is essential."

What if you think what is essential is education?

What if you think education is what is essential? (that's what I meant to say)

I think the distinction needs to be made between "knowledge" and "education" for this. I agree with you that what is essential is education, but in that education (hopefully) provides the tools for thoughtful analysis that leads to wisdom. If education is simply about acquiring knowledge, than it has failed its most basic mission, for knowledge is worthless without a framing principle, which one might call wisdom.
